Building & Installation.


After realizing how big of a project we had on our hands, we started building early. We tried to be as resourceful as we could and made good use of the materials that were provided/found. Using cardboard and metal pipes we constructed the frame of the bus, and used two tables as the front and back using a yellow table cloth. We then used fake grass and chairs to create a seating environment and utilized our space to the best of our abilities.

With coffee as our main pull factor for our project, we needed sponsorship to supply us with snacks and refreshments. Our professor recommended trying to obtain sponsorship from Cafe Rosso . The Main Event

Timeline: September 20th, 2018 @ Holloway & Arellano Ave 8:30 am - 9:30 am: We started moving materials, getting last minute touches added, coffee arrived, and set up our installment. 9:30 am: Cafe stop is officially opened! Xin took amazing photographs of the set up, and the members. 9:40 am - 10:00 am: We waited for audiences, tried to promote our stop but our attempts were futile due to people rushing to class. 10:10 am: First interested passerby showed up, we explained our project and offered them a cup of coffee! Our first cup was hung down the roof of our bus. Lois was in charge of hanging the cups. 10:30 am: Our stop became busy, we ran out of cups, Kevin went to go get some more. We stopped asking people to write on their cups, and brought a white board to engage the audience. 11:00 am: People actually decided to chill by our seating area, whiteboard was filled with ideas, and we ran out of milk. What is Park(ing) Day?
